The Detroit Lions’ offense has been performing exceptionally well in recent weeks, achieving “incomprehensible” milestones following their Week 7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Quarterback Jared Goff has led the team to rank second in the NFL for total yards per game (411.8) and points scored per game (30.3) after Sunday’s games.
However, the Lions faced a setback on Monday when ESPN’s Eric Woodyard reported that wide receiver Jameson Williams has been suspended for two games due to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy.
The 23-year-old expressed his immediate feelings about the suspension to Woodyard.
“Jameson Williams is disappointed with the suspension but states he has ‘no choice but to take it on the chin,'” Woodyard shared on X.
“‘I’m in good spirits and just ready to get back with my brothers as soon as possible,’ Williams told ESPN.”
This marks the second time the 2022 first-round draft pick has faced suspension in his short NFL career.
Last season, he was suspended for the first six games for violating the league’s gambling policy, resulting in the loss of approximately $500,000 in salary.
This season, Williams has played six games (four as a starter), catching 17 of 30 passes for a career-high 361 yards and three touchdowns.
He currently ranks second on the team in receiving yards, trailing only Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has 401 yards.
Williams will miss the upcoming games against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 and the Green Bay Packers in Week 9.
