Lions’ Star Wide Receiver Responds Right After NFL Suspension

The Detroit Lions’ offense has been performing exceptionally well in recent weeks, even achieving what some called “incomprehensible” history following their Week 7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

Under the leadership of quarterback Jared Goff, the Lions ranked second in the NFL with an average of 411.8 total yards and 30.3 points scored per game after the latest matchup.

However, on Monday, the offense faced a setback when wide receiver Jameson Williams was suspended for two games due to a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy, as reported by ESPN’s Eric Woodyard.

The 23-year-old receiver expressed his immediate reaction to the suspension, stating he was disappointed but would “take it on the chin.”

He emphasized that he remains in good spirits and is eager to rejoin his teammates as soon as possible.

This is the second time the 2022 first-round pick has faced suspension during his short NFL career; he was previously banned for the first six games of last season for violating the league’s gambling policy, which cost him around $500,000 in salary.

So far this season, Williams has played six games, with four starts, recording 17 catches on 30 targets for a career-high 361 yards and three touchdowns.

He is currently second on the team in receiving yards, trailing only Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has 401 yards. With this suspension, Williams will miss the upcoming games against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 and the Green Bay Packers in Week 9.
