Cowboys Seek $12M Jaguars Star in Aggressive Trade Move to Boost Season Prospects

The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night, aiming to enhance their season record. Currently at 3-3, the Cowboys sit third in the NFC East, behind the 5-2 Washington Commanders and the 4-2 Philadelphia Eagles.

After their Week 7 bye, they will confront a 49ers team in a comparable predicament. Both the Cowboys and 49ers were anticipated to be strong NFC contenders, yet their seasons haven’t unfolded as expected. San Francisco stands at 3-4, while Dallas struggles to establish its rhythm.

One potential fix for the Cowboys is to bolster their running back unit. Dallas has the worst rushing offense in the league this season, prompting speculation about a possible trade before the November 5 deadline.

Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus outlined a list of “dream” trade scenarios, suggesting the Cowboys might target Jacksonville Jaguars star running back Travis Etienne Jr.

“The Jaguars have been perplexing over the past two years, and tensions seem to be rising under Doug Pederson,” Locker noted.

“With a roster that should be playoff-caliber, the team appears disjointed, indicating that changes could be made. Jacksonville ranks eighth in rushing EPA per play, largely due to Tank Bigsby, who has an 82.5 rushing grade, placing him ninth among players with over 50 carries. This could make Etienne expendable…

“The Cowboys would be eager for a player like Etienne. Dallas’ rushing attack has been lackluster, ranking 29th in rushing grade and second-to-last in explosive rushes. The combination of Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott has performed as expected, with neither achieving a rushing grade above 69.0. Since Etienne is only under contract for one more year, he is a plausible trade target. Jerry Jones would likely seize the opportunity.”

In his third NFL season, Etienne has rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons. A trade could be worth exploring.
