Steelers’ Rookie Center Zach Frazier Ready for Comeback Against Commanders

Resilient Return: Frazier Poised to Bolster Steelers’ Offensive Line

Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie center, Zach Frazier, is nearing his much-anticipated return after a high ankle sprain threatened to sideline him. The injury, sustained during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, initially raised concerns as Frazier was rolled up from behind at the end of a running play. Fortunately for the Steelers, the sprain turned out to be less severe than initially feared, and Frazier is expected to rejoin his team for the upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders, right after their bye week.

A Blessing in Disguise

During his final season at West Virginia, Frazier faced a serious setback when he broke his leg in a game against Baylor, ending his college career prematurely. The injury required surgery and a steel plate implant in his ankle—a detail that now, somewhat ironically, may have helped him dodge a season-ending injury this time. “Dr. James Bradley, the team’s orthopedic surgeon, said if it wasn’t for the plate in his ankle from the college injury, he easily could have broken a bone and ended his season,” shared Frazier in an interview with The Athletic. Frazier’s unfortunate past injury now seems like a blessing, strengthening his leg in ways that have shielded him in the NFL.

Critical Timing for Steelers’ Offensive Line

With multiple offensive linemen, including Troy Fautanu, Nate Herbig, and James Daniels, out for the season, Frazier’s return couldn’t come at a better time. The Steelers’ playoff hopes hinge on the durability and performance of their remaining roster, and Frazier’s comeback brings much-needed reinforcement to their lineup. Though his ankle sprain involved injuries to two separate areas, he has impressively managed to avoid a stint on injured reserve.

His presence on the field is a significant boost to the Steelers, not only for his skills but also for the depth and stability he adds to an already struggling line. Frazier’s ability to bounce back demonstrates resilience and grit, qualities that could make a crucial difference in the Steelers’ season.

Hope for a Bright Future

As Pittsburgh braces for a critical phase in their season, Frazier’s return symbolizes hope and resilience for both him and the team. His journey from a devastating college injury to a steel-reinforced comeback story could inspire Steelers fans and players alike. With his eyes set on a full return and a promising career ahead, Zach Frazier is ready to make his mark against the Commanders and help the Steelers on their road to the playoffs.
