Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams is set to return after serving a two-game suspension for using performance-enhancing substances.
Head coach Dan Campbell shared the team’s plan for Williams as he gets ready to return to action.
Williams is expected to be back in the lineup for Detroit’s upcoming Sunday night game against the Houston Texans.
Despite his suspension preventing him from participating in practice, Williams has remained involved in team activities.
He’s been training, running, and attending meetings, ensuring he stays engaged, as reported by Pro Football Talk.
Campbell confirmed that Williams has remained dedicated during his time away from the field, noting, “He’s been here.
He couldn’t be out there in practice, but he was here training, we had him running, he was in the meetings, all of that, so he’s really been here. We’re throwing him back in there. He’s going. Let’s go.”
Although some concerns linger about how off-field decisions may impact Williams’ NFL future, Campbell remains confident in the player’s growth and character.
B“I think he’s become more and more aware of that over time, and I think he does,” Campbell remarked in an October press conference. “For me, I judge people for what’s in their heart.
I know what this kid’s made of and he’s worth hanging with. He’s gonna learn from this, he’s gonna grow, he’ll be better for all this.”
Campbell’s comments reflect his belief that Williams has matured through the experience and will continue to improve both on and off the field moving forward.
The Lions are optimistic about his return and ready to integrate him back into the team.
