Erin Andrews Receives Criticism for Controversial Comments During Lions-Packers Coverage
Fox Sports sideline reporter Erin Andrews is facing criticism for her comments about the weather during Sunday’s Week 9 matchup between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
As rain was predicted for the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell had expressed enthusiasm about playing in the tough conditions, saying earlier in the week, “We’ll be in the elements and wearing the all-whites with the grass stains, it’s gonna be good ol’ football the way it’s meant to be played.”
True to the forecast, the game was played in cold, windy, and rainy conditions, which the Lions won 24-14 to improve to 7-1.
During the broadcast, Andrews made several weather-related remarks, including one about wind gusts reaching 43 miles per hour.
Her comments caught the attention of fans on social media, particularly Sam Kuffel, a CBS 58 meteorologist from Milwaukee, who criticized her on X, saying,
“Begging Erin Andrews to stop making up weather alerts. … Stuff like this makes me irrationally angry.”
Others also questioned her statements. One viewer wrote, “Literally checked NWS to see if there were any warnings out and there were none… Erin girl, what are your sources because they’re wrong.”
Another added, “Dude, I looked at weather.gov right after and there was nothing.
Shame on her.” One person even joked, “Currently bunkered in a room downstairs with no windows per Erin Andrews.”
Despite the backlash, Andrews, along with Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt, will return for Week 10 coverage. While Fox Sports has yet to announce its “America’s Game of the Week,” the 49ers at Buccaneers game could be a likely choice, given Brady’s last seasonsin Tampa.
