Ex-NFL Wide Receiver Apologizes to Dak Prescott Following Intense Backlash

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to miss significant time due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the team’s Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

MRI results revealed that Prescott has suffered a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon, meaning part of the tendon has been torn off the bone. Recovery is expected to take over four weeks, as reported by NFL insider Jane Slater.

On a recent episode of FS1’s “The Facility,” former NFL wide receiver James Jones made controversial comments about Prescott’s injury.

Jones suggested that Prescott had quit on his team instead of trying to play through the pain. He claimed Prescott could have continued playing during the game, stating, “We know when dudes is hurt and they really can’t go, and we know when dudes is messing around.” Jones also downplayed the severity of the injury, saying, “It ain’t off the bone, we seen the play.”

Jones’ remarks quickly drew backlash from fans, prompting his co-host, Emmanuel Acho, to call for an apology. On social media, Acho wrote, “James Jones, I believe you owe Dak Prescott a massive apology tomorrow on I told ya to wait til them MRI’s came out!” Jones responded, acknowledging the severity of the injury after seeing the MRI reports and expressed regret for his earlier comments, saying, “That’s my fault… seeing the reports of how bad it might be… that’s tough! God Speed Dak.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones previously mentioned that it’s “likely” Prescott will be placed on injured reserve, though as of Wednesday, the team has not officially made the move.

Prescott is reportedly exploring additional recovery options, which may explain the delay in his placement on IR.

With Prescott sidelined, Cooper Rush, who filled in for Prescott during the Week 9 game, is expected to start when the Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
