The Dallas Cowboys are taking a cautious approach with Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury.
After recently signing a significant contract extension, Prescott is expected to remain with the team long-term.
With the Cowboys sitting at 3-5 and their starting quarterback sidelined for an unknown period, discussions are ongoing about how best to manage his injury.
Despite uncertainty surrounding his recovery, Prescott has made his wishes clear.
Speaking on 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that the team has yet to decide if Prescott will be placed on injured reserve. Jones explained that Prescott doesn’t want surgery and is determined to return to the field as soon as possible, stating, “He doesn’t want surgery.
He wants to be on the field and go for it. We’ll just see how it goes here.”
Prescott sustained the injury during Sunday’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons after scrambling for five yards.
On the following play, he appeared to be in pain while attempting a pass to Jalen Brooks, which was noticeably off-target.
Prescott later admitted that he’d never experienced a sensation like that before.
“I felt it when I was getting up from the run.
I didn’t really feel it while running,” Prescott explained. “Maybe it happened during the tackle, but I didn’t think much of it at first.
You often feel aches and pains in this game, but they usually fade.”
