The Detroit Lions are facing some tough news. Offensive lineman Taylor Decker will miss the team’s upcoming game against Houston, according to ESPN. Decker is dealing with a shoulder injury that has been affecting him in recent days.
“I don’t see him practicing today,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said during his Friday morning press conference, per USA Today. “It’s about how he heals up. I don’t think this is anything major, but we need to see how he feels over the next 48 hours.”
Decker is a crucial part of the Lions’ offensive line. Detroit is currently 7-1 and leads the NFC North, positioning itself for another shot at the NFC Championship.
Decker plays left tackle for the Lions. With his injury, the team may need to move right tackle Penei Sewell to left tackle as a replacement.
Lions Are Having a Strong Season
Detroit is enjoying a level of success it hasn’t seen in decades. The team is aiming for its second consecutive NFC Championship appearance, much to the excitement of its fans.
Quarterback Jared Goff is a major contributor to the team’s success. Goff has 1,840 passing yards and 14 touchdowns this season with just four interceptions. His strong performance follows a stellar 2023 campaign, where he passed for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.
Lions fans are hoping Decker returns quickly. He has been with the team since 2016 after being drafted in the first round. A former Ohio State standout, he helped lead his college team to the 2014 CFP National Championship. Decker is an integral part of why Goff has been able to put up impressive numbers.
The Lions will face the Texans on Sunday at 8:20 Eastern. Houston comes into the game with a 6-3 record.
