Prescott is anticipated to be placed on injured reserve soon, raising questions about whether the Dallas Cowboys QB might return to the field this season.

The Cowboys’ recent 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons saw Prescott suffer a partially torn hamstring. Reports on Saturday suggested Prescott is leaning toward season-ending surgery, though he plans to consult additional specialists first.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Prescott is “determined to explore every option” before choosing surgery on his hamstring. However, sources familiar with the injury feel that surgery is the most probable outcome.

The Cowboys, now at 3-5, were already slipping out of playoff contention before Prescott’s injury. Prescott may decide to wait a few weeks to evaluate his options. Should he undergo surgery, recovery is expected to take four months, meaning he could delay the procedure and still be ready for the 2025 season.

So far this season, Prescott has logged 1,978 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Cooper Rush is expected to take over as Dallas’ starting quarterback, although Cowboys owner Jerry Jones might push for an alternative option as well.
