Former Cowboys Coach Steps Down Following Alarming Police Incident

Jack Del Rio, a former NFL standout and coach, has resigned from his position after being arrested on a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge.

Del Rio, who had a long career as an NFL head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland Raiders, was most recently serving as an advisor to head coach Luke Fickell at the University of Wisconsin.

Del Rio, who played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1989-91, has a notable coaching resume, including stints with Jacksonville from 2003-11 and the Raiders from 2015-17.

According to reports, Del Rio was arrested on Friday after an incident where he allegedly hit a street sign and damaged a fence while driving.

In a statement, Del Rio expressed his gratitude to Fickell and the University of Wisconsin, thanking them for the opportunity to work with such a skilled coaching staff and talented players.

However, he made the decision to step down from his role to allow the team to focus on the remainder of the season without distraction.

Coach Fickell commented on the situation, acknowledging the difficulty of the circumstances and emphasizing the importance of taking responsibility for one’s actions.

He stated, “It’s a tough situation, decisions that all of us have to be able to take full responsibility for. So that’s what Jack will do and we’ll continue to move forward.”

Del Rio’s resignation follows his legal troubles, and the focus will now shift to Wisconsin’s football team for the rest of the

season.
