Lions Encouraged to Take Kansas City Chiefs’ Fan Favorite

The Detroit Lions are being encouraged to target a key player from the Kansas City Chiefs who has experience with a Super Bowl-winning team.

The Lions are coming off a thrilling 26-23 win against the Houston Texans, and their momentum is building. However, according to Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department, there’s always room for improvement, particularly on the offensive line.

NFL analyst Mike Holder suggests the Lions could strengthen their squad by adding Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith.

Holder believes Smith could be a valuable asset to Detroit’s offense.

In a November 11 article that addressed each NFL team’s biggest weaknesses heading into Week 11, Holder emphasized that the Lions should pursue Smith.

He pointed out that current Detroit guards Kevin Zeitler and Graham Glasgow are not long-term solutions. Zeitler is only on a one-year contract, and Glasgow has had a solid but unspectacular season.

As a result, the Lions could look to upgrade at the guard position in the offseason, and Smith could be the ideal target.

Smith’s performance speaks for itself. Heading into Week 10, Pro Football Focus ranked him as the eighth-best guard in the league with an impressive 81.5 grade.

This strong performance has made Smith a favorite among Chiefs fans, and it’s clear why many believe he could be a great fit in Detroit.

Although Smith will likely command a high salary as a free agent, the Lions are in a strong financial position.

According to Over The Cap, Detroit is projected to have around $65 million in cap space for the upcoming offseason.

This gives them plenty of flexibility to pursue Smith, who will be just 26 years old by the time he hits the open market.

Holder suggests that the Lions should target Smith when he becomes a free agent next offseason.

However, despite the recommendation for future moves, Holder also stated that there’s no immediate need for the Lions to make changes.

He acknowledged that the team has been performing exceptionally well, and with their recent success, there’s no urgency to disrupt their current roster.

“Given their recent performance, there’s no reason to make a move right now,” Holder said.

The Lions’ impressive play has been catching the attention of the NFL world.

Following their victory over the Texans, Detroit has moved into the top rankings for many NFL power lists ahead of Week 11. James Dator of SB Nation placed the Lions at No. 1 for the first time this season.

Despite the Chiefs still being undefeated,

Dator noted that there are growing concerns about their performance, which has led some to question their status as the top team in the league.

ESPN’s Eric Woodyard also ranked the Lions highly, placing them at No. 2.

Woodyard highlighted the consistency of star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has been a key figure in the Lions’ success.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson praised St. Brown for his reliability, calling him “the most consistent player” he’s ever worked with.

St. Brown has continued to impress, setting a franchise record with a receiving touchdown in seven consecutive games

Davis pointed to their first win under head coach Dan Campbell after coming from behind in the second half, a win that showcased their mental toughness.

Quarterback Jared Goff and St. Brown have formed an unstoppable connection, with Goff hitting St. Brown on 30 consecutive targets, the longest streak by any wide receiver since 2016.

The Lions’ rise in the rankings reflects the solid chemistry between players and the strength of their roster.

However, as the team continues to build on their success, there’s still room to improve in key areas, like the offensive line.

Adding a talent like Trey Smith could further bolster their chances of contending for a championship, but for now, the Lions are riding high and making a strong case as one of the league’s top teams.
