Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback C.J. Henderson has been added to the team’s injury report with a neck issue, causing him to miss Thursday’s practice. Although Henderson hasn’t yet played in a game for the Steelers, he was promoted to the active roster recently after several teams attempted to claim him off waivers.
Currently third on the depth chart at outside cornerback behind Cam Sutton and James Pierre, Henderson’s position could be further impacted as Cory Trice returns to health and is expected to serve as the primary backup. However, how Trice’s return will influence Henderson’s role remains uncertain.
Drafted in the first round by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Henderson has also played with the Houston Texans and Carolina Panthers. The Steelers have been interested in Henderson since his college days at Florida, though he has yet to meet the expectations set for a top-10 pick.
