Why Jared Goff Is Supporting Michigan Quarterback Davis Warren

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff shares a special connection with Michigan quarterback Davis Warren, a bond that stretches back to when Warren was a young player and Goff was attending the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback camp.

Over the years, their paths have crossed several times, and now, Goff is fully supporting Warren as he pursues his football career at Michigan.

“I first met Davis years ago when I was in high school,” Goff recalled, as quoted by SI. “He was a younger kid at the Elite 11 camp.

I ran into him again later when he was in high school, and I learned more about his story. He faced some significant challenges but kept pushing forward.”

Warren’s journey to Michigan wasn’t an easy one. He had to take a year off from football to battle leukemia.

However, after overcoming this health challenge, he attended prep school before eventually landing at Michigan.

Goff, who had always been impressed by Warren’s abilities, remembers a particular moment when they were training together.

“I was throwing with him years ago, and I remember thinking, ‘That kid’s got something special. Who is that?’” Goff said.

“They told me he’d missed a year because of leukemia, and that he had to go to prep school.

I thought, ‘Wow, whoever ends up with him is going to be lucky.’ It’s been great to watch him grow and succeed.”

While Goff has established himself as the leader of the Detroit Lions, Warren has been working hard to make a name for himself at Michigan.

Despite being on different teams, the two have kept in touch over the years, and Goff continues to root for Warren’s success.

“We stay in touch sometimes, exchanging texts,”

Goff said. “It’s cool that we’re both in Michigan now, each representing our teams.

I’m definitely rooting for him—he’s a great kid, and I’ve got his back.”

Goff’s ongoing encouragement and belief in Warren are clear, and it’s evident that the two share a strong mutual respect.

Their relationship, based on their shared experiences as quarterbacks and their similar California backgrounds, has continued to grow over time.

With Goff offering his mentorship and support, Warren has a strong role model to look up to as he works toward his goals at Michigan.

As both quarterbacks continue to chase their dreams in the football world, Goff’s backing serves as a source of motivation for Warren as he strives to make his mark at one of the country’s top football programs.
