Michigan’s football program has taken a hit just two weeks before national signing day, as one of their top 2025 recruits has changed his commitment.

Ivan Taylor, a four-star safety from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida, announced Monday night that he is decommitting from Michigan and committing to Alabama instead.

Taylor shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “I’m blessed for the opportunity, and I look forward to playing for Coach DeBoer and his staff.

Roll Tide!” Ranked No. 59 overall in the 2025 class by the 247Sports Composite, Taylor had been one of five top-100 prospects in Michigan’s class.

Taylor’s flip, while disappointing for the Wolverines, comes as no surprise after months of speculation.

The 6-foot, 174-pound safety had taken multiple visits to Alabama during the fall, and recruiting experts had long predicted he would eventually choose the Crimson Tide.

With Taylor no longer in the fold, Michigan must regroup and focus on locking in other key targets ahead of signing day.

Meanwhile, Alabama continues to bolster its standing as one of the country’s premier recruiting programs.
