Davis Warren Shares How Jared Goff Helped Him Through Difficult Times

On Saturday, Davis Warren and the Michigan Wolverines made a statement by clinching bowl eligibility with a dominant 50-6 victory over Northwestern at the Big House. After the win, Warren opened up about the crucial support he has received from Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

Warren, a cancer survivor, discussed how Goff’s mentorship has played a pivotal role in his journey, both on and off the field. “That relationship meant a lot to me,” Warren shared. “He was there for me when I needed support during my treatment. Then, our connection grew as we worked with the same trainers.”

Both Warren and Goff ended up in the Detroit area after their time in Southern California, and their bond has only deepened over time. Warren spoke about how Goff’s approach to the game has shaped his development as a quarterback.

“When I was put back into the lineup, I watched a lot of his throws, checked down to the running back, and learned how he talks about being a point guard,” Warren explained. “We can’t move the ball without me getting it out of my hands, whether by handing it off or passing it. That was huge.”

The mutual admiration and shared experiences have clearly aided Warren in his transition to Michigan’s starting quarterback, with Goff’s advice continuing to guide him as Warren takes on greater leadership with the Wolverines. It’s a story of mentorship, resilience, and the strength of connection in football.
