Despite a late game-tying effort, the Bears lost to the Vikings in overtime, 30-27, extending their losing streak to five games and dropping their record to 4-7.
For the Detroit Lions, three key players could be unavailable for their upcoming game against Chicago.
The short turnaround, with the game just four days after a 24-6 victory over the Indianapolis Colts, adds to the challenge.
Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the difficulty of the situation, noting, “It’s going to come down to the wire with a number of them.
That’s the challenge with the short week. The good news is, most of these are not long-term issues, but the problem is we have only three days to recover.
We’re always prepared, though—next man up. You’ve got to do your job, hold the line, and compete.”
When asked about the toughest decisions regarding injuries, Campbell highlighted offensive tackle Taylor Decker, cornerback Carlton Davis, and wide receiver Kalif Raymond as the most uncertain.
He also mentioned that Amon-Ra St. Brown is dealing with some minor injuries, but they’ll monitor his recovery as the week progresses.
This week, the Lions’ focus is on healing and mental preparation for their NFC North division rival.
Detroit has not won a Thanksgiving game since 2016, and quarterback Jared Goff said the team is eager to break that seven-game losing streak on the holiday.
Campbell’s message to the team is centered on recovery and focus. “Rest, recovery, and mental work are the priorities,” he said.
“You need to recover as quickly as possible, get your body right, and mentally focus on the task at hand.
The physical part won’t happen in this short of a time, so you have to block out distractions—family, friends, everything. Tell them you love them and you’ll see them after the game.”
Campbell acknowledged the team’s resilience despite recent close losses, saying, “They’ve been through heartbreakers these last two weeks, but they keep coming back for more.
They’re hungry for a win, and we know we’ve got a tough challenge ahead of us.”
