Detroit Lions Record Consecutive 10-Win Seasons for the First Time in Franchise History

The Detroit Lions were established in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans and have been part of the NFL ever since. However, the franchise had never recorded back-to-back seasons with at least 10 wins—until now.

With their 10-1 record today, following a 12-5 finish last season, the Lions have secured double-digit wins in consecutive years.

Before last season, the Lions had only managed 10 double-digit win seasons in their history: 1931, 1934, 1953, 1962, 1970, 1991, 1993, 1995, 2011, and 2014. Success has been rare in Detroit.

But this is a different Lions team—one that reached the NFC Championship Game last year and is performing even better this season. A team that won’t settle for 10 wins or anything less than a Super Bowl title.
