Lions’ Defense Weakened: Detroit Lions lose Two Defensive Stars to Injury.

The Detroit Lions’ defense faced yet another setback on Thanksgiving during their matchup against the Chicago Bears. In the first half alone, the Lions lost two key defensive linemen who did not return to the game: defensive end Josh Paschal and defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike.

Paschal exited the game after an awkward fall while pursuing Bears quarterback Caleb Williams. Initially listed as questionable with a knee injury, Paschal spent some time on the sidelines testing his mobility. However, by the second quarter, the team downgraded him to out for the remainder of the game. His absence forced the Lions to lean on Al-Quadin Muhammad and rookie Mekhi Wingo to fill the gap in the lineup.

The Lions’ troubles didn’t stop there. Just before halftime, Onwuzurike suffered a hamstring injury. He left the field with only nine seconds remaining in the first half and did not rejoin the team when play resumed after halftime. Shortly after, the Lions officially ruled him out for the rest of the game.

These injuries come at a challenging time for Detroit, as the team is already dealing with a depleted defensive line. Key players like Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, John Cominsky, and Kyle Peko are currently on injured reserve. While the severity of Paschal and Onwuzurike’s injuries is not yet clear, the Lions hope neither will be sidelined long-

term.
