Jameson Williams had a close call on Thanksgiving night, nearly costing the Detroit Lions a win with a costly mistake.

In the final moments of their 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears, the wide receiver was penalized for taunting, which pushed the Lions back 15 yards.

The Bears took advantage of the mistake and mounted a late-game threat, almost stealing the game from Detroit.

Fortunately, the Lions held on to win, improving to 11-1 on the season. Despite the victory, the team holds itself to a high standard as they aim for a Super Bowl title.

Williams took full responsibility for his actions, apologizing for the penalty, which quarterback Jared Goff appreciated. “It’s huge,” Goff said.

“He did a good job owning up to it. I’m proud of him for handling it the way he did. We’ll move on.”

Williams’ emotional response to the situation shows he could be a target for opposing defenders looking to get under his skin. However, the Lions are addressing the issue quickly.

Head coach Dan Campbell reassured everyone that the mistake was already dealt with, emphasizing Williams’ growth.

“Jamo got in front of the team and apologized, unsolicited,” Campbell said. “That’s big. That’s growth.”
