Jordyn Brooks Takes a Swing at Dolphins: “Simple as That” After Packers Defeat

A tough critique follows a cold-weather loss.

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks didn’t hold back his thoughts after the team’s 30-17 Thanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers. Known for his hard-nosed play, Brooks turned his frustration outward, calling out the Dolphins for what he described as a lack of physicality.

“We were soft. Simple as that,” Brooks declared to reporters after the game. His pointed comments captured the dissatisfaction of a fanbase growing weary of a recurring issue: the Dolphins’ struggles in cold-weather games.

A Chilling Reality: Miami’s Struggles in Cold Weather

The Dolphins’ record in cold-weather conditions is bleak. With temperatures hovering in the mid-20s at Lambeau Field, Miami extended its losing streak to 11 games when the kickoff temperature dipped below 40 degrees. This trend dates back to 2016, and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s personal 0-8 record in similar conditions only adds fuel to the fire.

Being a team built on speed, the Dolphins often find their style ineffective in harsher climates. “I felt like we let the elements control the way we played,” Brooks said, reinforcing the narrative of Miami’s cold-weather woes.

Offensive Inefficiency: Ground Game Grinds to a Halt

The Dolphins’ rushing attack was almost non-existent. Managing just 39 yards on the ground and averaging 2.8 yards per carry, Miami recorded its lowest rushing total of the season. Over the past four games, the team has failed to surpass 100 rushing yards, further highlighting their offensive struggles.

A critical moment came in the second half, with Miami on the Packers’ 1-yard line, poised to cut into Green Bay’s lead. Instead of punching the ball into the end zone, the offense faltered, reinforcing Brooks’ critique of the team’s lack of physicality.

Defensive Collapse: Tackling Troubles

The defensive side of the ball fared no better. According to NextGen Stats, Miami missed a staggering 20 tackles during the game. When asked about the number, Brooks didn’t mince words. “Yeah,” he said flatly, encapsulating his disappointment.

Despite leading the team with nine tackles and adding a quarterback hit, Brooks’ efforts weren’t enough to stop the Packers. Green Bay’s balanced offense exploited the Dolphins’ inability to wrap up plays, further exposing Miami’s defensive weaknesses.

Cold Weather Narrative Continues

Last week, Tagovailoa expressed a desire to “kill narratives” about Miami’s struggles
