“‘Out of His Mind’: Dak Prescott Sparks Debate with 2025 Head Coach Choice”

The Dallas Cowboys boast one of the most passionate fan bases in sports. Known for their iconic star logo and massive global following, the team consistently tops the NFL in revenue. Naturally, when a key player speaks out, the football world listens—and Dak Prescott’s recent comments were no exception.

Prescott made headlines when he openly expressed who he believes should remain the team’s head coach in 2025.

Cowboys Fans React to Dak Prescott’s Strong Stance on Head Coach

According to Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports, the quarterback is throwing his full support behind current head coach Mike McCarthy, whose contract has five guaranteed games remaining. Prescott hopes the team gives McCarthy more time to lead.

As he recovers from a season-ending hamstring surgery, Prescott admitted to feeling frustrated by his inability to contribute on the field during such a pivotal time for the team.

Your coach seems like he’s playing on his last contract and [I’m] almost feeling helpless like I can’t help him in this situation, especially a guy you believe in so much and you believe in being your head coach,” Prescott told Yahoo Sports during a Tuesday Zoom interview.

Prescott draws on his experience with Jason Garrett, who coached the Cowboys through the final year of his contract in 2019. He believes McCarthy deserves a better opportunity to lead without the looming uncertainty of an expiring deal.

It helps that team owner and general manager Jerry Jones recently said it’s not crazy” to consider bringing McCarthy back for a sixth season or more. That support aligns with Prescott’s perspective.

“I believe in him wholeheartedly,” Prescott shared, speaking in partnership with DICK’S Sporting Goods. “I don’t want to necessarily get into the nuts and the screws of it all obviously, but I think he definitely deserves a chance — another contract and a chance to coach this team amongst more influence. ‘On his terms’ may be a good way to say it.”

Whether McCarthy’s future includes a new deal remains to be seen, but Prescott has made it clear where he stands.
