The Detroit Lions have elevated two players to the active roster for their upcoming game against the Buffalo Bills: linebacker Abraham Beauplan and linebacker/defensive back Jamal Adams.
Although the Lions are welcoming back several key defensive linemen this week, including Josh Paschal, Levi Onwuzurike, DJ Reader, and Alim McNeill, their linebacker group remains heavily depleted. Key players like Alex Anzalone, Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin are still on injured reserve.
Additionally, linebacker Trevor Nowaske has entered concussion protocol and is ruled out for the game.
This marks the second consecutive week Adams will be part of the active roster. A 10-year NFL veteran, Adams was added to the practice squad two weeks ago to strengthen the Lions’ front seven.
Despite his background as a safety, Adams has been practicing with the linebackers and played eight defensive snaps against the Packers, all in the box, where he recorded a tackle.
Beauplan, who has bounced between the practice squad and active roster throughout the season, will make his third appearance on game day. In previous weeks (9 and 10), he was active only for special teams and has yet to play a defensive snap at the NFL level.
For the Bills game, the Lions’ linebacker corps will include Jack Campbell, Kwon Alexander, David Long Jr., Ezekiel Turner, Ben Niemann, Adams, and Beauplan.
