Two Detroit Lions Players Fined for In-Game Infractions During Victory Over Packers

The Detroit Lions secured a thrilling 34-31 win against the Green Bay Packers in Week 14, but the team faced disciplinary actions following the game.

Two players, Za’Darius Smith and Christian Mahogany, were penalized for infractions that took place during the match.

Za’Darius Smith was fined $6,722 for roughing the passer after making contact with Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s head.

Although the hit went unflagged during the game, the NFL determined the contact warranted a fine based on its severity.

On the other hand, offensive lineman Christian Mahogany was fined $4,609 for committing a facemask penalty.

The infraction occurred when Mahogany grabbed and twisted the facemask of a Packers defender, which caught the attention of league officials.

Despite these fines, both players played crucial roles in the Lions’ hard-fought win, which helped maintain their spot at the top of the NFC standings.

With a focus now on their upcoming Week 15 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the fines serve as a reminder of the NFL’s strict enforcement of player safety regulations. The team will look to avoid further penalties as they push toward securing a playoff spot.
