Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch has made his vision for the 2024 season clear: the goal is to win the American League Central.
After closing 2024 on a high note, Hinch is determined to push a young, talented team to compete for the division title.
The Tigers ended last season with an impressive 86-76 record, earning a wild-card playoff berth.
However, Hinch wants to aim even higher. “We’re not trying to replicate last season; we’re trying to improve,” Hinch said at the MLB Winter Meetings, as reported by the Detroit Free Press.
“Our focus is on winning the AL Central.”
Detroit’s 2024 campaign appeared headed for a mediocre 75-win finish, but a remarkable 31-11 surge late in the season secured their playoff spot.
Now, Hinch’s sights are set on capturing the division title, a milestone the team hasn’t achieved since 2014.
“For a young team, the key challenge is avoiding complacency and continuing to grow,” Hinch explained. “It’s time to take the next step and compete for the division crown.”
With a strong foundation already in place, Hinch believes the Tigers are ready to transition from rebuilding to contending.
The team’s youthful core, combined with Hinch’s guidance, makes them a serious threat in the AL Central.
As the 2024 season approaches, the Tigers’ mission is clear: build on their momentum and aim higher.
After a playoff appearance last year, Hinch and his team are poised to make a strong push for the division title.
