Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery partnered with The Yunion, a Detroit-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth, to host a community coat drive on December 17, 2024.​​ ​​​​ ​​

The event took place at the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL) facility, aiming to collect new coats for individuals of all ages.​​​​

​​The donations will benefit families and individuals served by The Yunion and other Metro Detroit organizations, including COTS, Covenant House Michigan, Focus: HOPE, and PAL.​​​​ ​​Volunteers will distribute the collected coats to ensure they reach those most in need during the winter season.​​​​ ​​

Montgomery, who recently sustained a knee injury, expressed optimism about his recovery and emphasized the importance of community support during the holiday season.​​ ​​​​
