Allen earned a season-best 92.5 PFF grade in Week 15, the league’s highest mark that week.

This is his second consecutive 90.0-plus grade and third in four games, underscoring his dominant stretch. The Bills’ offense has thrived under his leadership, appearing nearly unstoppable.

A key improvement for Allen over the past two years is reducing turnover-worthy plays. Once prone to reckless mistakes, he’s now posting a career-best 2.5% turnover-worthy play rate, improving from 3.0% last season.

Allen’s ability to maintain his playmaking edge while limiting errors has been pivotal.

Entering Week 15, the Bills led the league in drives ending in touchdowns (37.1%). Against the Lions, they showcased their offensive prowess early.

On their second play, Allen connected on a 33-yard pass off a perfectly executed wheel route. By running the halfback through the A-gap, the Bills exploited Detroit’s man coverage, forcing linebackers into tough, mismatched situations.

Allen’s ability to extend plays and create under pressure is his defining trait. He leads the NFL in scramble adjustment throws, with the fourth-highest grade (91.1).

Against the Lions, he repeatedly turned broken plays into big gains, wearing down their secondary.

Covering for over five seconds is nearly impossible, and Allen consistently punished Detroit’s defense.

Buffalo anticipated Detroit’s reliance on man coverage and crafted clever matchups and route combinations, showcasing why their offense is among the league’s best.

In this clip, the Bills once again exploit a wheel route, this time using their halfback in the slot to create a natural pick with the outside receivers.

The defender is left in an impossible position, unable to navigate the pick and cover the wheel without assistance.

Recognizing this immediately, Allen doesn’t bother trying to manipulate the safety with his eyes. Instead, he lofts a perfectly placed ball over the top, resulting in another significant gain.

The Lions stayed committed to man coverage, and the Bills continued to exploit it effectively.

Before the snap, the Bills recognize man coverage and note that the cornerbacks on the closed side of the field won’t switch assignments despite pre-snap motion.

This gives Allen a matchup he likes—Dalton Kincaid on a corner route against the smaller defensive back, Terrion Arnold.

Kincaid gains leverage, stacks Arnold, and creates an easy decision for Allen, who delivers a perfectly thrown pass to beat the safety for another big play.

Allen’s current form may be the best we’ve ever seen from him, which is remarkable given that he’s earned a 90.0-plus PFF grade in each of the past five seasons.

Over that time, he’s cemented himself as one of the league’s elite quarterbacks.

However, this season he’s making his strongest case yet for MVP and looks poised to claim the award for the first time in his career.
