“Ben Johnson Expresses ‘Burning Desire’ to Become Head Coach, But Only Under the Right Circumstances as Detroit Lions Thrive”
The Detroit Lions remain one of the top teams in the NFL.
Even after their loss to the Buffalo Bills last week, the Lions are still considered among the Super Bowl favorites, with many expecting them to be the NFC’s representative in the championship game.
The Lions feature talented players on both sides of the ball, but their coaching staff has received significant praise for bringing everything together.
Dan Campbell continues to earn praise for his leadership as head coach, and Ben Johnson is gaining more recognition for his role as offensive coordinator.
Johnson was considered a potential head coaching candidate ahead of the 2024 season, but to the surprise of many fans, he chose to stay for at least another year, aiming to help the Lions reach the next level.
When asked about the possibility of pursuing a head coaching position, Johnson said, “I think there’s a burning desire in every man to find what he’s made out of. Going into the postseason, honestly, this is why I’m here. This is why I wanted to be here,” Johnson told reporter Brad Galli.
Although Johnson may explore head coaching opportunities in the offseason, he seems fully focused on contributing to the Lions’ success for now.
Jared Goff continues to be one of the league’s top quarterbacks this season, effectively running Johnson’s offense.
It will be intriguing to see if the Lions can finish the job this year and secure their first Super Bowl title in franchise history.
