Lions QB Jared Goff Joins Elite Tom Brady and Peyton Manning Group After Dominant Bears Win, Achieving 13+ Win Seasons with Multiple Franchises
Jared Goff has become the third quarterback in NFL history to record a 13+ win season with two different teams, joining the ranks of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, as noted by The 33rd Team on X (formerly Twitter).
The Lions’ 13th win this season marked a new franchise record, highlighting the team’s outstanding performance. Goff, who had previously achieved a 13-win season with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018, has quickly become the leader of Detroit’s dynamic offense.
In the game against the Bears, Goff continued to shine, completing 23 of 32 passes for 336 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. His accuracy was on full display with an 82-yard touchdown to Jameson Williams, who ended the game with five receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown.
The Lions secured a dominant victory over the Bears
Detroit’s offense, which leads the NFL in scoring, accumulated 474 total yards despite missing injured running back David Montgomery. Rookie Jahmyr Gibbs stepped in admirably, totaling 154 yards and a touchdown. Goff’s powerful arm and smart decisions led the Lions’ success, and the team’s inventive play-calling was also crucial. A cleverly executed trick play resulted in a touchdown pass to tight end Sam LaPorta.
Goff faked a stumble after the snap, selling a false fumble that pulled the Bears’ defense out of position. By the time the defense realized the play was a ruse, LaPorta was wide open for a touchdown.
“Our coaches do a great job of recognizing tendencies,” LaPorta said after the game. “We saw how the defense reacted strongly to the fumble, so we exploited it.”
With the victory, the Lions moved to 13-2 and stayed in first place in the NFC, still competing for the top spot in the conference with the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings. Despite Detroit’s defense allowing 382 yards due to missing key players like Aidan Hutchinson and Carlton Davis III, their powerful offense proved too much for Chicago.
With the postseason approaching, Goff and the Lions are proving their championship aspirations. Goff’s name now sits among NFL legends Brady and Manning, solidifying his legacy while leading Detroit toward a record-breaking season.
