Dan Campbell commended Jameson Williams’ Sunday performance, calling it his best as a Lion.

Head coach Dan Campbell praised third-year wide receiver Jameson Williams for his best game as a Detroit Lion in Sunday’s victory over Chicago.

“Offensively, our game balls went to (Amon-Ra) St. Brown and Jamo. Both had huge games, and it was probably Jamo’s best performance since joining the team, both in run blocking and the passing game, which everyone notices,” Campbell said Monday.

The stats reflected Campbell’s observations on film.

Williams recorded five receptions for 143 yards (28.6 avg.) and a touchdown, adding a seven-yard rush for a total of 150 scrimmage yards—both career highs for him.

His 82-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter gave the Lions a commanding 20-0 lead in a 34-17 victory.

“It was all about the safety No. 36. He was flat-footed, and (Jared) Goff knew. You just have to trust him,” Williams explained after the game regarding the touchdown connection. “He knows I’ll run past him. He knows my downfield ability. Just put the ball where it needs to be, and I’ll go get it.”

Williams did just that, continuing to play a crucial role in the offense, which ranks No. 1 in scoring and No. 2 in total yards in the NFL.

The touchdown was Williams’ fourth of 50 or more yards this season, with three of those being 60 or more yards, joining Cloyce Box (1952, 1950) and John Greene (1945) as the only players in franchise history to achieve that.

Williams is only 110 yards away from his first career 1,000-yard season, with six touchdowns. His 18.9-yard per reception average ranks fourth in the NFL.

His ability to stretch the field and be a physical presence in the run game fits seamlessly into the offense. He’s playing well, and the Lions need that to continue if they hope to achieve their ultimate

goal this season.
