Dan Campbell Praises Jameson Williams’ Best Performance as a Lion

Head coach Dan Campbell commended third-year wide receiver Jameson Williams for delivering his best game as a Detroit Lion during Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears.

“Offensively, we gave game balls to both Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jamo. Both had outstanding performances.

For Jamo, it was likely his best game since joining us. It wasn’t just the passing game, which everyone notices, but also his run blocking. That was fantastic,” Campbell shared on Monday.

Williams’ numbers strongly supported Campbell’s praise.

He posted career highs with five receptions for 143 yards, averaging 28.6 yards per catch, and one touchdown. He also added a seven-yard rush, amassing 150 scrimmage yards overall.

The highlight of the game came in the second quarter when Williams caught an 82-yard touchdown pass that gave Detroit a commanding 20-0 lead. The Lions went on to secure a 34-17 victory.

“It was all about trusting Jared [Goff],” Williams explained regarding the touchdown.

“The safety was flat-footed, and Jared knew I’d run past him. He just had to place the ball where I could go get it.”

This ability to “go get it” has become a critical aspect of the Lions’ offensive dominance. Detroit leads the NFL in scoring and ranks second in total offense.

Williams’ touchdown was his fourth of 50-plus yards this season.

He also has three touchdowns of 60-plus yards, placing him in elite company alongside franchise legends like Cloyce Box (1952, 1950) and John Greene (1945).

Now, just 110 yards shy of his first 1,000-yard season, Williams has six touchdowns to his name.

His 18.9-yard average per reception ranks fourth in the NFL, highlighting his ability to stretch the field and create explosive plays.

More than just a deep threat, Williams has proven to be a physical asset in the run game, a perfect fit for the Lions’ offensive system.

With his strong performances, Detroit remains on track for a potential playoff run.

Campbell and the team will look for Williams to maintain this high level of play as they pursue their ultimate goals this season.
