Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown Respond to Jameson Williams’ Bold Claim

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, known for his blazing speed, recently made a bold claim that has caught attention in the locker room. Confident in his abilities, Williams stated that he could run a 4.1-second 40-yard dash, a time that would place him among the fastest players ever to complete the drill.

“I think I can. I probably could run faster,” Williams said confidently while discussing his speed. “I saw someone say they don’t believe it’s a 4.1. I believe in it. People who know me know I can do that.”

Madden Speed vs. Real Life

Although Williams hasn’t run an official 40-yard dash, he used the popular video game Madden to back up his statement. “I’ve never run a 40. That’s what I’m saying. I never had to do that,” Williams explained. “If Madden respects me enough to give me 98 speed from the start? That’s a 4.1. No 40 and 98 speed? If I was a 99, it would be like a 3.9 or a 4.0.”

Williams clearly believes that Madden’s portrayal of his speed accurately reflects his capabilities, even if actual timing might suggest otherwise.

Goff and St. Brown Respond to Williams’ Claim

As expected, Williams’ bold claim didn’t go unnoticed by his teammates. Quarterback Jared Goff, known for his relaxed demeanor, gave a playful response when asked about Williams running a 4.1-second 40-yard dash.

“Yeah, I guess if he says so, I don’t know. We’ll have to measure it sometime,” Goff said with a laugh. “He’s hard to track down if we want to time his 40, but if he says 4.1, we’ll have to hold him to it.”

Meanwhile, fellow wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown joined in with some humor, casting doubt on Williams’ claim.

“I do love Jamo, but I don’t know if he’s hitting 4.1,” St. Brown said, laughing. “That’s crazy, that’s crazy.”

Confidence and Camaraderie in the Lions’ Locker Room

Despite the playful skepticism from his teammates, Williams’ self-assurance is clear. While it remains uncertain if he can back up his claim with an official 40-yard dash time, his confidence in his speed is a key reason he’s such a valuable asset for the Detroit Lions.

As the Lions continue their push for success on the field, having a player like Williams, who exudes confidence, adds excitement to the team. Whether or not he can achieve a 4.1-second 40, there’s no question that his speed will be vital for Detroit as they look to finish the season strong.
