Top Running Back in Transfer Portal Commits to Michigan Football Program

According to a report from On3 Sports, the Michigan Wolverines football program has made a significant splash in the NCAA transfer portal, securing Justice Haynes, a highly coveted running back from Alabama.

A source close to the player confirmed that Haynes has officially committed to Michigan, bolstering the Wolverines’ roster for the 2025 season.

Entering the transfer portal on December 13, Haynes has two years of eligibility remaining.

Haynes’ decision is a major victory for Michigan, especially given the tough competition.

The Wolverines edged out programs like Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Ohio State to land the talented running back.

His final decision came down to Michigan and South Carolina before he announced his commitment.

Haynes joins Michigan following a standout 2024 season at Alabama, where he amassed 448 rushing yards on 79 carries, maintaining an average of 5.7 yards per carry.

His seven touchdowns placed him among the SEC’s top running backs, earning him the title of No. 1 running back in the transfer portal, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Adding Haynes significantly strengthens Michigan’s backfield as they aim to reclaim Big Ten supremacy and make a strong playoff push.

The commitment comes as Michigan gears up for their ReliaQuest Bowl matchup against Alabama on December 31 in Tampa, Florida.
