Teddy Bridgewater Opens Up About Idolizing Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn: “What Two Better Guys to Idolize”

The Detroit Lions have been one of the NFL’s top teams in the 2024 regular season, with a 13-2 record heading into Week 17 and a legitimate shot at securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff race on Sunday. The Lions are determined to make their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history this year, which has led to the addition of a veteran quarterback.

“A lot of people don’t understand the relationship Dan and I have, and that [Aaron Glenn] and I share,” Bridgewater told reporters Saturday, according to the team’s social media. “It goes back to our New Orleans days and goes beyond football. I saw how Dan prepared the tight end room in New Orleans. The way AG worked with the defensive backs.”

Bridgewater credits the growth of former Saints players who learned a lot under Campbell and Glenn’s guidance.

“I watched those guys develop in their system, from tight ends to defensive backs,” Bridgewater continued. “We’re talking about Marcus Williams, who’s in Baltimore, Vonn Bell, Marshon Lattimore, those guys. Seeing their journeys and knowing the impact AG and Dan had on them.”

Bridgewater even looks up to both coaches as role models.

“It’s like, man, these are two men I can look up to,” Bridgewater concluded. “I’m 32, not too old to look up to someone. What better guys to idolize?”

Lions Backup QB Hendon Hooker Responds to Teddy Bridgewater Signing

The signing of Teddy Bridgewater may not be the best news for Lions backup QB Hendon Hooker, but you wouldn’t know it from his comments. Hooker praised Bridgewater in a recent interview and is clearly excited to have him back on the team.

“I figured Teddy was going to come back this season,” Hooker said Friday, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “I didn’t know when, but I knew when his season was over, he’d return. We’ve been talking about it since the summer.”

Bridgewater is not only a reliable backup for Jared Goff but also serves as another coach on the sideline and in the locker room.

“I definitely miss having him in the room, leaning on him when Jared is doing his own thing,” Hooker said. “Still asking questions. He’s still my mentor, so any questions I have about life, football, or being a pro, I always turn to Teddy.”

Bridgewater, who won a championship coaching his high school team earlier this year, may soon have a Super Bowl ring with the Lions.
