Dan Campbell’s Wife Issues Clear Message Before NFC North Title Game Between Lions and Vikings.
On Monday night, the Detroit Lions are looking to avenge their NFC Championship loss with a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
After losing to the 49ers in the NFC title game, head coach Dan Campbell expressed his desire to never experience that feeling again, but he also emphasized the lessons learned from losses.
“Just like my second year in the league, we went to the Super Bowl and got crushed by Baltimore. I’ll never forget that either. Those moments stick with you,” Campbell said Saturday, via ESPN. “We simply didn’t do enough. You learn from every experience. Unfortunately, the best way to learn is through losses. It really is.”
“…You don’t want to feel that again, so you have to prepare the right way, play the right way, and do everything you can for that week’s opponent. It’s as simple as that. This is the next team in front of us, and you just have to stay calm, composed, disciplined, and focus on the little things that make the difference. It really is that simple.”
While Campbell is focused on the 49ers, his wife has her attention on the Minnesota Vikings, who defeated the Green Bay Packers on Sunday to set up a winner-take-all NFC North showdown in the final game of the regular season.
On Sunday night, Holly posted a message on social media aimed at the Vikings.
“If we don’t reclaim the North, we’ll never be safe. I want your help, but I’ll do it myself if necessary,” the quote in the post read.
Detroit and Minnesota will face off not only for the NFC North title but also for the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff race. The winner will secure the top seed and a first-round bye, while the loser will be the No. 5 seed and have to play on the road.
Holly understands the stakes.
