NFL Announces Highly Anticipated Lions vs. Vikings Game to Decide NFC North Champion.

The Detroit Lions’ home game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, January 5, will determine the NFC North Division champion, regardless of whether Detroit wins their Monday Night Football matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

On Sunday, the NFL made a highly anticipated announcement about the Lions vs. Vikings game, which is especially significant for fans of both teams, including those from Minnesota who are expected to travel to Michigan to watch the game at Ford Field in Detroit.

NFL released its full Week 18 schedule for Saturday, January 4, and Sunday, January 5, confirming that the regular season will conclude in Detroit.

The January 5 Lions vs. Vikings game was officially moved to the 8:20 p.m. Sunday Night Football prime time slot, providing both Dan Campbell’s and Kevin O’Connell’s teams with an opportunity to wrap up the season in a memorable way.

This matchup will serve as a rematch of the October 20 game between the two division leaders in Minneapolis, where Campbell’s Lions narrowly defeated O’Connell’s Vikings 31-29 after nearly losing a 21-10 halftime lead.

In that game, Lions quarterback Jared Goff was nearly perfect, completing 22-of-25 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, outplaying Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold in the process.
