Kirby Smart Confident Georgia Will ‘Play Harder’ for New QB Replacing Carson Beck.

The Georgia Bulldogs are preparing for a College Football Playoff game against Notre Dame, but they’ll be without starting quarterback Carson Beck, who suffered an injury in the SEC Championship Game.

Gunner Stockton will step in as the starting quarterback. So far, he’s performed well in Beck’s absence, and head coach Kirby Smart is confident that will continue.

Smart discussed the upcoming game with the Fighting Irish this week and mentioned that the team would “play harder” for Stockton when they take the field on New Year’s Day.

Smart believes Stockton has all the qualities needed to be a successful quarterback in the SEC, including physical skills and leadership.

Stockton and Beck differ significantly both on and off the field. The dual-threat quarterback is more dangerous with his legs, whereas Beck is a traditional drop-back passer.

Stockton has generally stayed out of the spotlight, while Beck has gained attention for his relationship with Miami basketball player Hanna Cavinder. They also have different tastes in cars. Stockton drives an F150, while Beck owns a Lamborghini. Clearly, they are not the same!

Despite these differences, both players have shown the ability to inspire their teammates on the football field. Beck demonstrated this over the past two seasons, and Stockton earned respect after taking a brutal hit in the SEC Championship Game.

Kirby Smart’s comments weren’t intended as a slight to Beck but as recognition of Gunner Stockton’s abilities. He doesn’t anticipate any drop-off for the Bulldogs with Stockton taking the reins.
