Terrion Arnold of the Lions Issues Direct 6-Word Challenge to Vikings’ Receiving Group.
The Detroit Lions bounced back from their toughest loss of the 2023-2024 season against the San Francisco 49ers on the road this past Monday, setting the stage for a thrilling NFC North showdown on Sunday Night Football this weekend in Motown against the Minnesota Vikings for the division title.
On Wednesday, one of the Lions’ standout defenders, cornerback Terrion Arnold, issued a direct six-word challenge to the Vikings ahead of Sunday night’s game, a remark likely to fuel motivation for Minnesota’s receivers Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson, and the rest of the squad.
“We’re a bad matchup for Minnesota,” Arnold stated.
“They got receivers, but we got cover guys.”
The Lions won the initial meeting between the two 14-2 contenders on October 20 in Minnesota, outpassing the Vikings 247 to 244 yards.
Detroit also had a slight advantage in the running game with 144 yards compared to 139.
Quarterback Jared Goff and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson’s Lions rank second in the NFL in passing, averaging 266.1 yards per game. The Vikings are fifth, averaging 243.8 yards per game.
Detroit’s defense has overcome injuries recently, grinding out tough victories over the 49ers and Bears, after a 48-42 loss to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 15.
Dan Campbell’s squad needs another determined effort from the entire defense, including Arnold, to secure the franchise’s second consecutive division title on Sunday.
