Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions running back, earns another accolade for his season-ending performance.

Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs capped off an exceptional season by earning another award for his late-season performance.

After a dominant Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings, where he scored four touchdowns, Gibbs was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

His strong finish to the season also earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December and January, announced by the league on Thursday.

In five games during December and January, Gibbs carried the ball 87 times, gaining 439 rushing yards and scoring six touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Additionally, he caught 24 passes for 235 yards and three more touchdowns.

Stepping up as the lead back after David Montgomery’s knee injury, Gibbs exceeded 100 rushing yards in each of the last three games, amassing 365 rushing yards (5.7 yards per carry), 122 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns during that span.

This season, Gibbs set a Lions franchise record with 20 touchdowns in a single season. He also became just the third Lions running back since 2000 to win a Player of the Week award.

According to Lions PR, Gibbs is the first Lions running back since Barry Sanders in December 1997 to win a Player of the Month honor. He and Sanders are the only Lions running backs to achieve this milestone.

The Lions made franchise history by collecting four Player of the Month awards in a single season, corresponding to the league’s four regular-season months.

Alongside Gibbs, Aidan Hutchinson (Defensive Player of the Month for September), Jared Goff (Offensive Player of the Month for October), and Jake Bates (Special Teams Player of the Month for November) received similar recognition.

In just his second season, Gibbs has already established himself as a standout player in Lions history.

In addition to these honors, Gibbs is among six finalists for the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Year award, which highlights outstanding offensive performances.

The winner will be revealed during the NFL Honors ceremony on February 6 in New Orleans, as part of Super Bowl LIX festivities. Fans can vote for their favorite finalist until February 5.
