Detroit Lions

After losing to the Commanders, Dan Campbell admitted he failed to prepare his team.

The Detroit Lions appeared to be the NFL’s best team for much of the season. However, they didn’t look like it on Saturday night.

Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders shocked them as 9.5-point road underdogs, dominating from start to finish.

The Lions committed five turnovers and only converted three of six red-zone opportunities.

That’s why coach Dan Campbell took full responsibility for the loss.

After the game, an emotional Campbell, on the verge of tears, blamed himself for not having his team prepared (via Ari Meirov).

Despite his words, it’s tough to pin this defeat on Campbell.

It wasn’t about his usual aggressive play-calling or frequent fourth-down attempts.

Instead, the Lions hurt themselves with several penalties that extended drives for the Commanders.

Winning becomes nearly impossible when your quarterback throws three interceptions and loses a fumble.

To make matters worse, Jameson Williams also threw a costly interception.

On the other side, Jayden Daniels proved unstoppable, picking apart every defensive scheme Detroit attempted.

Daniels is a rare talent, crafting one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history.

As for Jared Goff, this game will likely linger, casting doubt on his ability to lead the Lions to the pinnacle.
