The Commanders’ Vulnerability the Eagles Must Take Advantage of in the NFC Championship Game

The Detroit Lions still believe they have the right talent to win the Super Bowl.

Following the shocking 45-31 loss to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round, the Lions’ roster was left reeling. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown sent head coach Dan Campbell a message at 4 a.m. after the game.

“I got a text from (Lions WR Amon-Ra) St. Brown at four o’clock in the morning yesterday,” Campbell shared at his season-ending media session. “So, I know it eats away at the guys, and they’re the right guys, they’re our guys for a reason. And that’s what always gives me hope and confidence that we’ll only get better. We’re coming back stronger, learning from this, and it’ll just add fuel to the fire.”

Campbell, Detroit’s fourth-year head coach, acknowledged that the team fell short of its goals, despite being considered a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

“I just go back to this: when you have the right people and you’re built the right way, failure only strengthens you. You come back stronger, I believe that, and unfortunately I’ve experienced plenty of those. But man, I thank God, it makes you hungry,” Campbell said. “The hard part is when you’ve had some success at a certain level and then try to reload and repeat. That’s what makes what New England did for years with Bill Belichick so remarkable. But with where we’re at, we had these goals, but we fell short.”

The loss continues to fuel Campbell, who plans to use the disappointment as motivation for next season.

“Man, we accomplished two of those goals this year and, in a way, exceeded where we were last year, but we didn’t get further, and that’s tough,” Campbell admitted. “But it eats at me, and that drives me, motivates me.”
