Fox Sports Highlights Major Announcement After Lions-Commanders Match

The NFL playoffs are heading into conference title weekend, with four teams remaining in the race for Super Bowl LIX: the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Washington Commanders. Before conference title weekend, the Lions and Commanders faced off in an exciting game at Ford Field. Washington triumphed over the Lions 45-31, advancing to the NFC Championship Game while defeating the No. 1 team in the NFC standings. After the game, which aired on Fox Sports, the communications team released the viewership data for the matchup. The final viewership for the game reached 34.6 million viewers, making it the most-watched broadcast of the day (Saturday, Jan. 18).

Although Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs put on a dominant performance against the Houston Texans earlier in the day, all attention shifted to the Commanders’ playoff upset.

Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has now led the Commanders to two playoff victories, marking the team’s first postseason win since 2005.

In the victory over the Lions, Daniels threw for two touchdowns and 299 yards, completing 71.0% of his passes. Daniels and the Commanders will now face the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.
