It definitely looks like Za’Darius Smith crafted his very own NFC North division title ring.
Did you get tired of hearing about the Detroit Lions this season? Did it seem like the hype around them was a bit excessive, considering they, you know, didn’t win any playoff games, just like the Green Bay Packers? (Sad!)
Well, reader, brace yourself: the Lions are back at it.
More specifically, one Lions player is making waves. Za’Darius Smith – you know, the guy who played just over 50% of defensive snaps with the Lions for seven weeks and only managed one sack over the last five weeks of the season – posted what is quite literally the funniest picture you’ll come across on the internet today. And, by the way, it’s public! And it’s there forever!
Before you check out the picture, I do want to clarify something: don’t let Lions fans get caught up in boasting about how the Packers didn’t win any rings. Sure, it wasn’t Green Bay’s year, especially after losing to the Chicago Bears. But let’s be clear—only one team can win a ring every season. Or so you’d think!
Za’Darius Smith’s NFC North division title ring is the funniest thing you’ll see today.
Smith shared a photo on Instagram of a custom-made Lions ring, featuring his name, number, and a Lions logo. The picture was posted as a screenshot on Twitter, which is how every great piece of modern art is shared these days.
It’s, in a word, fantastic. And while Packers fans might not find it as funny, I’d argue that it’s actually incredibly amusing and fitting for someone who played with the Lions for less than half of a single season to post a picture of a division title ring while on vacation in Cancun. I’m struggling to think of a better metaphor for the Lions’ season than this.
Maybe Detroit will hold a parade for them this spring?
