Chelsea star completes permanent move to Lazio

Chelsea will aim to end their disappointing form when they face London rivals West Ham United on Monday evening.

Off the pitch, the West London club has yet to make a senior signing during this transfer window, but it seems that one of their fringe players could soon leave Stamford Bridge.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Serie A side Torino has reached a verbal agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei.

Casadei joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in 2022 as part of a significant recruitment campaign, but has struggled to secure a spot in the first team since then.

He has made just 17 appearances for the Blues across all competitions and has also spent time on loan at both Reading and Leicester City.

He has appeared six times for Maresca’s team this season, but has yet to feature in the Premier League, despite playing under the Italian manager during his time with Leicester.

Casadei is contracted with Chelsea until 2028, but Romano reports that Torino is closing in on a deal to acquire the central midfielder.

Although a verbal agreement has been made, Romano notes that both clubs will proceed cautiously in the next steps, including the player’s medical, as Lazio previously agreed to sign him, only for the deal to fall apart.

The agreement is said to involve Torino paying Chelsea an initial fee of over £10 million, with the Blues also set to benefit from a sell-on clause exceeding 20%.
