Man Utd forced to revise Patrick Dorgu transfer after new Ruben Amorim hurdle.

Manchester United have had to delay Patrick Dorgu’s medical ahead of his move from Lecce, it has been reported.

The 20-year-old left-back, who can also play on the right, is expected to provide balance on the left side as the club adapts to Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. Dorgu will join for a fee of around £30million, provided all paperwork is completed before Monday evening’s transfer deadline.

So far, Amorim has had to make do with improvised solutions on the left. Right-back Diogo Dalot has often filled the role, and the Portuguese defender scored his first goal of the season in Thursday’s Europa League victory over FCSB.
Dalot may be asked to play again on Sunday when United meet Crystal Palace in the Premier League, with the club still awaiting Dorgu’s arrival. According to the latest reports, the process is taking longer than anticipated.

The Mail reports that Dorgu is now scheduled to fly to England over the weekend. The delay is due to paperwork and contracts not being finalized in time for the medical to be conducted sooner.

Dorgu will be Amorim’s first signing since his appointment at Old Trafford in November. Before the January transfer window opened, there were doubts about whether United would need to sell players before making new acquisitions, but Antony’s loan move to Real Betis has helped reduce their wage expenses.
With the transfer window closing on Monday, finalizing Dorgu’s deal is now the top priority. However, there may still be a few departures, particularly with clubs showing interest in Alejandro Garnacho.

United will face a quieter February schedule as Amorim works on improving his squad to climb the Premier League standings. The Red Devils progressed to the Europa League round of 16 after their 2-1 win over FCSB in Bucharest on Thursday, avoiding a play-off.

“That’s the most important thing,” Amorim told TNT Sports after the win. “More than the result, it’s having time to train and recover the players.”

Amorim’s team will face one of AZ, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad, or Galatasaray in the next round of European competition in February. United won’t return to European action until March, having completed the league phase with an unbeaten record.
