Lakers provide two key injury updates ahead of Knicks game
The Los Angeles Lakers (27-19) continue their six-game road stretch with a Saturday night game against the New York Knicks (32-16) at Madison Square Garden. Prior to the 8:30 p.m. ET tip-off on ABC, the Lakers listed forward Dorian Finney-Smith and guard Gabe Vincent as probable for the game, according to the latest injury report.
Finney-Smith is dealing with a right shoulder contusion, while Vincent is listed with a left knee contusion. The veteran forward last played in the Lakers’ 118-104 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers, a game in which Anthony Davis was forced to leave early due to an abdominal strain. Finney-Smith finished with three points, three rebounds, and five fouls in 19 minutes.
Vincent’s most recent appearance came in the Lakers’ 118-108 win over the Golden State Warriors last Saturday, which wrapped up their undefeated run during NBA Rivals Week. He recorded seven points, one rebound, and one assist in the victory.

With both players listed as probable, the Lakers will likely finalize their availability closer to game time.
Since the Lakers acquired Finney-Smith in a late-December trade that sent D’Angelo Russell and Maxwell Lewis to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Finney-Smith and Shake Milton, they’ve shown notable improvement. Over the 15 games following the trade, Los Angeles ranked 11th in offensive rating and 10th in defensive rating. On the season, they currently sit 13th in offensive rating and 21st in defensive rating.
