**Lions Identified as Possible Destination for $125 Million All-Pro**
A surprising development surfaced in the NFL today that could work in favor of the Detroit Lions.
Star Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett has reportedly requested a trade after spending eight seasons with the team.
Garrett is bound to have several teams interested. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has posted double-digit sacks in every season for the past seven years, including 14 or more sacks in each of the last four.
The Lions might be poised to seize this opportunity to add a top-tier player.
In a piece discussing possible destinations for Garrett, Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness mentioned the Lions as one of the teams that could acquire the star.
A trade for Garrett wouldn’t come cheap. ESPN’s Dianna Russini shared that an NFL GM told her the Browns would likely ask for a first-round pick, plus either a second-round pick or two third-round picks along with a player.
Garrett also has a hefty contract worth $25 million annually and may seek a new deal with the team that trades for him, especially as other edge rushers surpass his current contract.
However, Garrett might be well worth the investment for the Lions.
They already feature standout edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, but still need another player who can consistently pressure the quarterback. Hutchinson finished the 2024 season with 3.5 more sacks than anyone else on the roster, despite playing only five games.
If the Browns entertain trade offers for Garrett, it would be surprising if the Lions weren’t among the teams to make a call.
