Lions Identified as Possible Destination for $125 Million All-Pro

A shocking piece of news surfaced in the NFL today, which could be a game-changer for the Detroit Lions.

Cleveland Browns star edge rusher Myles Garrett has reportedly requested a trade after eight seasons with the team.

Garrett is sure to have a long list of potential suitors. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, he has posted double-digit sacks in every season for the past seven years, including four consecutive years with 14 or more sacks.

The Lions could seize this opportunity to acquire an elite player.

In an article about possible destinations for Garrett, Pro Football Focus’ Gordon McGuinness mentioned the Lions as a potential landing spot.

Acquiring Garrett wouldn’t come cheap. ESPN’s Dianna Russini shared that an NFL general manager told her a trade would likely require a first-round pick and either a second-round pick or two third-rounders and a player.

Additionally, Garrett has a contract worth $25 million per year and will likely seek a new deal with whichever team acquires him, as other edge rushers continue to surpass his contract.

Nevertheless, Garrett could be a huge asset for the Lions.

They already have an elite edge rusher in Aidan Hutchinson, but they lack another player who can consistently pressure the quarterback, as Hutchinson led the team with three and a half more sacks than anyone else on the roster in just five games during the 2024 season.

If the Browns do indeed entertain trade offers for Garrett, it would be unexpected for the Lions not to make a call.
