Lakers Dominate Clippers 122-97 with LeBron’s 26, Luka Doncic Observing from the Bench

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) – LeBron James recorded 26 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds, while Luka Doncic cheered from the bench as the Los Angeles Lakers dominated the Los Angeles Clippers 122-97 on Tuesday night.

Doncic, who is nearing a return from a strained calf, clapped and occasionally fist-pumped throughout the game as the Lakers delivered an impressive performance in their first match since acquiring the All-NBA scoring champion in a blockbuster trade that sent star big man Anthony Davis to the Mavericks. James and Doncic, who sat together, engaged in conversation during the game.

Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura each scored 20 points for the Lakers, who wrapped up a six-game road trip with five wins, despite losing Davis to injury before the trade. This victory marked the Lakers’ first win at Intuit Dome, the Clippers’ new state-of-the-art arena.

Norman Powell led the Clippers (28-22) with 20 points, as they fell two games behind the fifth-place Lakers (29-19) in the Western Conference standings.

James Harden struggled, shooting 2 of 12 for seven points, while Kawhi Leonard added just 11 points before both stars sat out the fourth quarter.

Bronny James made his first NBA 3-pointer, playing the final six minutes of the game.

Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks made their debuts with the Clippers, playing the final seven minutes after the team acquired them from Utah on Saturday.

Clippers: The team showed little energy following their four-game trip, with owner Steve Ballmer having little to celebrate.

Lakers: The win was a result of not only great performance but also a strong defensive effort, something they will need every night without Davis.

The Lakers scored 45 points in the first quarter, their highest in any period this season.

The Lakers didn’t commit a turnover until midway through the second quarter.

The Lakers will host the Warriors on Thursday, while the Clippers will face the Pacers at home on the same day.
