Along with Micah Parsons being in line for an extension, tough choices are ahead for the Cowboys, including decisions on long-time mainstays like DeMarcus Lawrence, Donovan Wilson, and Jourdan Lewis, among others.

However, the most pressing decision could come from fan-favorite Zack Martin, who shared thoughts about his future on Radio Row during Super Bowl week. It appears his decision may come sooner than expected.

“First, I want to focus on getting healthy,” Martin stated, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “[I’ll decide] in the next month or six weeks. My wife and I have been discussing it, but for now, I’m focused on recovering from this ankle injury and seeing how I feel about playing again.”

Martin, who is set to become a free agent this offseason, has spent over a decade with the franchise after being selected 16th overall in the 2014 NFL Draft. Throughout his career, he’s become one of the NFL’s premier offensive linemen, with seven First-Team All-Pro selections, two second-team All-Pro nods, nine Pro Bowls, and a spot on the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team.

It’s clear the Cowboys would love to see him return, but Martin has yet to decide if he wants to continue playing in the NFL, let alone return to the Cowboys.

“What I’m trying to do now is figure out what the next phase of my life looks like,” Martin said. “Whether that’s playing football in Dallas, elsewhere, retiring, or something else, we’re just figuring that out.”

NFL Free Agency officially begins on March 12 at 3 pm Central Time. Whether Martin will be a part of the available players remains uncertain.
